West Michigan Songwriter's Festival
SEPTEMBER 10TH-11TH 2021
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The first annual West Michigan Songwriter’s Festival kicks off Sept. 10-11, 2021. The brainchild of local Edward Jones financial advisor, songwriter, and musician Dan Terry, and Nashville songwriter, educator Steve Leslie, the festival features hit songwriters from Nashville playing the songs they wrote that you heard on the radio! Songs recorded by Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack, Luke Bryan, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Darius Rucker, Trisha Yearwood, Little Big Town, and many others!
In conjunction with two nights of performances, a free workshop will be offered on The Craft of Writing a Country Song presented by Steve Leslie.
The West Michigan Songwriter’s Festival is raising awareness of songwriting as an art form, songwriters as artists, and songwriting as a craft that everyone can learn to appreciate. The mission of the festival is to establish a foundation with the goal of providing educational scholarships for children.
With the purchase of a ticket, you will have access to one night of performances, as well as the songwriting workshop. Two drink tickets will be provided per person ages 21+. No outside alcohol or cigarettes of any type.
The performances will be Friday, September 10th from 7pm-9pm and Saturday, September 11th from 7pm-9pm. The songwriting workshop will be Saturday, September 11th from 2pm-4pm. Tickets are $50 for each night of performances.
Dan S. Terry is an American songwriter, composer, and acoustic guitar player. Dan started writing songs when he was a tween in Kewanee, Il. after his sister gave him a discarded guitar. He bought a tuning fork, a Beatle's chord book, and taught himself how to play. He first wrote songs with a friend, and at age 13, after his mother died, wrote his first solo song.
Since 2015, Dan has been writing songs daily at home, on the road, in airports, hotels, parks, and cities around the world. He travels with a Taylor GS Mini KOA wood guitar. Look for his 2021 studio album "Songs from Sandy's Restaurant" recorded in Nashville.

10. West Michigan Songwriters Festival at Blythfield Country Club (Sept. 10-11) – Granted, this really wasn’t a “festival” but a first-year event that’s liable to grow as organizer Daniel Terry builds his vision for celebrating top-notch tunesmithing. The rapport, humor and awesome forte exhibited by the four Nashville songwriters on this bill made this a diminutive-but-inspiring event to remember.
